Candice Essomba, a 22-year-old final-year Business Administration student at the University of Yaoundé II, founded Candy Skin, a natural skincare brand offering affordable, sweet-scented products for brown skin. Her current product line includes: Caramel Candy Oil for 5,000francs , Sweet Bubble Wash 500ml, 5,800 francs , Sugar Butter 250g, 6,000 francs , Sugar Scrub 250g, 4,500 XAF, Black Sugar Soap 250g, 3,500francs , Brown Glow Cream, 4,800 francs , and Day Candy Repair, 4,800 francs . She produces small fresh batches using quality natural ingredients and sells them mainly through WhatsApp orders and campus delivery.
Her business follows a made-to-order model with some ready stock. Customers order via WhatsApp, she prepares and packages in the evenings, and delivers personally or via student riders in Yaoundé, with shipping to other cities on request. This low-cost operation helps her maintain healthy margins. She sells an average of 100 to 150 products monthly, generating a revenue of approximately 480,000 to 720,000 francs per month and a net profit of around 280,000 to 450,000 francs after ingredients, packaging, and delivery expenses.
Candice balances school and business with strong discipline. She attends morning lectures and handles assignments in the afternoons, then dedicates evenings and weekends to production, packaging, and deliveries. During exam periods, she pauses new batches and works only with pre-orders. This smart time management allows her to excel academically while successfully growing her brand as a student entrepreneur in Yaoundé.
