Masso Samira: 21-Year-Old IUSTY Student Builds a Thriving Fashion Business Selling Dresses and Wigs

At just 21 years old, Masso Samira, a student at the private Institut Universitaire des Sciences et Techniques de Yaoundé (IUSTY), is making waves in Cameroon’s fashion scene as a young entrepreneur. She sells elegant dresses and high-quality wigs, with pieces like the stunning green dress featuring white beaded details currently available in both Douala and Yaoundé. Dresses are priced at an affordable 8,000 FCFA, while her quality wigs range from 15,000 to 25,000 FCFA. Balancing her studies with this growing venture has come with challenges, including managing time between university lectures and customer orders, handling logistics between the two cities, and standing out in a competitive market.
Despite these obstacles, the benefits of her entrepreneurial journey are already significant. Masso Samira is gaining practical experience in marketing, sales, customer relations, and small business management while continuing her academic pursuits at IUSTY. Her business is generating a steady monthly income of approximately 200,000 to 350,000 FCFA, building a loyal clientele who appreciate the quality and affordability of her products, and allowing her to develop essential skills in entrepreneurship. She is also inspiring other young women to pursue their passions alongside their studies, proving that determination and creativity can lead to financial independence and professional growth even before graduation.
